Segmented Woodturning – a Vase of Maple, Mahogany, and Walnut

A few years ago I became influenced and inspired by the unique woodturnings and outstanding wood craft of of a creative genius named Lincoln Seitzman. Many of you may ask “Who’s he?” I did too. I was completely unfamiliar with his name and with his segmented woodturning. Lincoln had a career in the clothing industry and began woodturning when he retired. He is considered one of the early pioneers of this wood craft.

Segments cut and organized for a segmented woodturning vase

The segmented vase mounted to the wood lathe that is pictured in this post is my feeble and humble attempt to understand the process Lincoln used to create some of his fantastic vases that he produced. Now, I’ve only seen his works on my computer screen and I’ve been blown away by what I’ve seen. His creative work is part of the art collection at the White House. Check out his art and wood craft. You’ll be glad you did.
