A plate joiner is also known as a biscuit joiner. This woodworking power tool is used to join two pieces of wood together. The plate joiner has a carbide blade that cuts a crescent shaped hole in the opposite edges of wood, plywood, MDF, or similar material. A compressed wooden biscuit is then placed into the adjoining slots along with glue. The two boards are then clamped together as the biscuit expands and the glue sets. The plate joiner is a very handy and effective tool for aligning the edges of materials.
